Cities And Clothes

A cinematographic diary by Wim Wenders, 1989.

"Fashion. I'll have nothing of it. At least that was my first reaction when the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris asked me to make a short film in the context of fashion.

The world of fashion. I'm interested in the world, not in fashion! But, maybe I was too quick to put down fashion. Why not look at it without prejudice? Why not examine it like any other industry, like the movies
for example?

Maybe fashion and cinema had something in common. And something else -- this film would
give me the opportunity to meet someone who had already aroused my curiosity, someone who worked in Tokyo [Fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto].

Filmmaking should just remain a way of life sometimes, like taking a walk, reading a newspaper, eating, writing notes, driving a car or shooting this film here, for instance, made from day to day, carried along by nothing other than its curiosity -- a notebook on cities and clothes."

KONY 2012 Filmmaker Detained

So Right After the KONY 2012 film goes viral...

Jason Russell, the filmmaker behind the mega-viral "Kony 2012" documentary, was hospitalized after being detained by San Diego police Thursday, the San Diego Police Department said. "He was interfering with traffic, banging his hands on the sidewalk, yelling and screaming, people were trying to calm him down,"Russell, 33, the co-founder of the San Diego-based advocacy group Invisible Children, was detained on San Diego's Pacific Beach after police responded to reports from several callers that a man "was running through the street in his underwear,...interfering with traffic, banging his hands on the sidewalk," and behaving irrationally, a San Diego Police Department spokeswoman said.
Invisible Children CEO Ben Keesey released a statement Friday saying Russell had been suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, malnutrition and stress in the aftermath of the extraordinary amount of attention the advocacy group's film on Lord's Resistance Army guerrilla leader Joseph Kony received.
"Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized yesterday suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition. He is now receiving medical care and is focused on getting better," Keesey said in a statement released to NBC News Friday. "The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday."

Yelling, screaming, banging hands on the sidewalk,  They can call it what they want...  I Know African Voodoo when i see it....

Falling Asleep Through a Live Broadcast

Lol..Somebodys Getting Fired

During a segment to mark Super Tuesday, the presenter on duty was utterly flummoxed when he went live to the US capital only to find that his reporter had dozed off.For many Americans, Super Tuesday will have been an exciting, thrill-a-minute affair full of twists and turns. Not for reporter Doug Luzader though, it seems.Fox's presenter commented: 'Well, Super Tuesday is in the rear-view mirror and the results show a little something for everybody.'Doug Luzader is live at the scene with an update on all of this. Doug, good morning, good to see you. I guess six, three, one is pretty much the way it breaks down?'It's clear from the broadcast picture that Luzader was not fully au fait with the situation and had in fact fallen asleep. The presenter's attempts to awaken him into life proved fruitless before he finally admitted defeat by saying 'I guess not'.

7 Worst Aid Ideas..

I couldnt Agree More.
Maybe their hearts were in the right place. Maybe not. Either way, these are solid contenders for the title of “worst attempts at helping others since colonialism.”
1. One million t-shirts for Africa
2. TOMS Buy-One-Give-One
…dumping shoes in places where people might otherwise be employed to make them.

3. Machine gun preacher
Problems with Sam Childers, the machine gun preacher, are so much more straightforward.
It’s dangerous and insane.
4. 50 Cent ransoming children in Somalia
So let’s break that down.
A. If you Like Fifty’s Facebook page — without even buying the drink — a child, presumably in Somalia, gets fed.
B. We can infer that there is a pot of dollars somewhere earmarked for feeding needy children. Two million meals worth of feeding if you count the million Like-meals plus the potential million bonus.
C. Those meals, while they could be donated, and have presumably been budgeted for, willnot be, except to the extent that you give Street King props online.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is called extortion.
5. Donor fund restrictions
6. Making food aid the same colour as cluster munitions.
Left is delicious. Right will kill you. You try tell the difference if you can’t read English and live out in the steppes.
7. Making USAID a foreign policy tool
In 1990, on the eve of the first Gulf War, Yemeni Ambassador Abdullah Saleh al-Ashtal voted no to using force against Iraq in a security council session. US Ambassador Thomas Pickering walked to the Yemeni Ambassador’s seat and retorted, “That was the most expensive No vote you ever cast.” Immediately afterwards, USAID ceased operations and funding in Yemen.

Un-Hate

O_0
I imagine The Benetton Boss was abducted by some bimbo on a yatch somewhere and this is what his team came up with as a  big joke on the world leaders for all the free time they had... Some of these images are photo shopped , they tried to make some sort of correlation between enemies on opposite sides of the political fence but damn.....to have em making out like this?..Nicky and Angel got their hands over each other right there... *cough*

Italian clothing maker Benetton withdrew an ad from its so-called “un-hate” campaign that shows world leaders kissing, the latest after criticism from the Vatican over an image showing
Pope Benedict XVI kissing a leading Muslim cleric  Mohammed Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand sheikh of Cairo’s al-Azhar mosque.
President Sarkozy and  German chancellor Angela Merkel

U.S. President Barak Obama kissing Hu Jintao, the president of the People’s Republic of China, another showing Obama kissing Venezuelan leader Huga Chavez

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas kissing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

All the ads carry a simple tagline reading “Un-hate,” Benetton’s logo, text indicating that the company supports the Unhate Foundation, an organization Benetton founded to “increase tolerance worldwide.”
Benetton saysThe UNHATE Foundation, desired and founded by the Benetton Group, seeks to contribute to the creation of a new culture of tolerance, to combat hatred, building on Benetton’s underpinning values. It is another important step in the group’s social responsibility strategy: not a cosmetic exercise, but a contribution that will have a real impact on the international community, especially through the vehicle of communication, which can reach social players in different areas.

King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck married his childhood sweetheart Jetsun Pema at the Punakha Dzong in Punakha, keeping things traditional, she opted instead for an elaborate 'kira', the national dress of Bhutanese women. At 21 years old, she becomes the world’s youngest queen, replacing the 41-year-old Queen Rania of Jordan
It has been reported that the couple have known each other since the King was 17 and the Queen was only 7 ...now Why do i find this romantic and a tad bit disturbing.... that the 17 yr old king fell for a 7 year old...musta been on helluva of  7 year old...well at least he waited... for a decade or so...thats the romantic part..

When the cars are too slow...Public Transport

An Indian woman shocked to see someone on the train who looked like David Cameron just had to ask..and it was him!..its was the prime Minister ..on Public Transport! However things of the sort couldn't happen in Tanzania...they'll give some silly reasons like 'Politicians dont use Public transport,' or 'Its not safe' or 'Why should they'..... I mean, if traffic is too slow back home.. they have two choices...slow it down a little more so they can pass or  helicopter anything else...just not public transport, are u kidding me?..lol
"Excuse me, are you the Prime Minister?", a stunned 27-year-old Indian woman inquired from David Cameron, who chose to travel in a tube train during rush hour. The Prime Minister, travelling on the London Underground to an appointment because it was quicker than going by car, tried to make a good impression with commuters by complimenting a young mother on her baby.Sanyogita Mayer who recently moved to Westminster from India, said: "We were on our way to go shopping. This man got on at Westminster and came past me and said: "Is it your baby?" I said 'yes', and he said: "Your baby is really beautiful."
I thanked him for saying that and he moved away but stood near me. I asked my husband: "Who is this man complimenting my baby?" "When he told me it was the Prime Minister I told him to stop joking with me.
But my husband insisted so I went up to Mr Cameron and I said: "Excuse me, are you the Prime Minister?" He said "yes" and I started laughing. Then I apologised for having to ask him the question." He told me he had a very busy schedule and it was quicker for him to travel by train than go by road, I was so surprised that a man like him would travel on the Tube and I was very struck by how down to earth he seemed.
Cameron, who was accompanied by a bodyguard as he travelled on the Jubilee line, responded by striking up a conversation about her home country. [source]

The Stolen Bridge...

Iddle Minds are work of the devil i tell ya,  I bet some guys walked right past that bridge one morning and later lazily brought it up later like 'Hey, Fellas, lets go steal that bridge' ..Druggies

Well, The Pennsylvania Bridge has been stolen...
There used to be a bridge across this creek
Newcastle, Pa, USA. State police say thieves have snuck away with a 50-foot steel bridge.
Trooper Darren Vizyak says in a report filed Wednesday that the bridge in North Beaver Township was stolen sometime between Sept. 27th and Oct. 5th.
According to CBS affiliate KDKA, the 20-foot wide bridge was in a wooded area along a railroad line, about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Police say it was made out of corrugated steel and valued at approximately $100,000. The thieves used a blowtorch to cut the bridge apart. They presumably aim to sell it for scrap metal.

Probably not the right motivation, but this my friends, is the definition of ambition...

7 Years for Ukraine's Prime Minister

Former Prime Minister Of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko sentenced to 7 years in jail for abuse of her office, though the there is controversy that this whole incident was politically run....
This is how seriously our 'significant others' take abuse of public office for private gain...but in this case I'm dissatisfied with the verdict..

Tymoshenko had been charged with abuse of office over a deal she signed as prime minister in 2009 to buy natural gas from Russia. The agreement, pegged to the price of oil, turned out to be costly when oil prices rose. In finding her guilty, Judge Rodion Kireyev fined Tymoshenko $190 million, the amount he said the deal cost the country. He also prohibited her from holding office for three years after finishing her prison term.

Political Revenge or is someone just doing his job too Godamn well?
More Below...

Tymoshenko has been in jail since Aug. 5, after the judge took exception to her frequent critical remarks during the trial. Now 50, she was one of the leaders of Ukraine’s Orange Revolution and rose to power after popular protest overturned a fraudulent election that had made Yanukovych president. Instead, Viktor Yushchenko, a Tymoshenko ally, won the presidency. Tymoshenko was prime minister in 2005 and again from December 2007 to March 2010. Once in power, however, the democrats bickered, unable to unite the country or to subdue corruption. Many voters became disenchanted.
Yanukovych blamed Tymoshenko for costing him the election. He regained his footing in early 2010 and defeated Tymoshenko in a presidential election. She was soon under investigation on various charges, all of which were dismissed. Eventually, the gas deal prosecution stuck.

3 Peace Activitists Share Nobel Prize..

Its a tie..I just want to give them a Hug! What these women have achieved is remarkable from the male dominated world of African Presidents, with President Ellen Sirleaf and major inequality in the Arab world with Tawwakul and the woman who led a strong movement for what she believed in and made a change., Leymah...I applaud that...standing ovation.
Africa's first democratically elected female president, a Liberian peace activist and a woman who stood up to Yemen's authoritarian regime won the Nobel Peace Prize Friday for their work to secure women's rights, which the prize committee described as fundamental to advancing world peace.
The 10 million kronor ($1.5 million) award was split three ways between Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf(72), peace activist Leymah Gbowee (39), from the same African country, and democracy activist Tawakkul Karman (32)of Yemen — the first Arab woman to win the prize.

The Red Lips Urinals

A woman by the name of a woman named Lily Le, has  filed a complaint with the city against 02′s Taphouse and Grill. In her complaint she states that the red urinals shaped in the form of a woman’s lips are “demeaning.”
Neal Seifeddine co-owner of 02′s Taphouse and Grill, says sexy urinals are here to stay, despite a complaint that they are “degrading to women.” In addition he says says not only will the urinals stay, but there are plans to install them at the pub’s north location as well.

I think its even funnier that the bar owner says  He just can’t understand how the complainant came to the conclusion that the lips were female.
What do you think? This isn’t the first time these mouth shaped urinals have caused a Canadian cacophony; last year a bar in Ontario removed the fixtures after protest from the public. Stateside in 2004, Virgin Atlantic’s plan to install the oral receptacles in a JFK airport lounge raised the ire of the National Organization for Women. The urinals continue to flourish in other Canadian bars; the owner of O2′s insists that he got his hysterical, totally original, and not at all sexist idea from visiting men’s rest rooms in other Alberta establishments.
