Women in Johannesburg took to the streets to march in protest of two women who were allegedly attacked at the Noord Street taxi rank in December for wearing mini-skirts. The South African Press Association reported that the two women were taunted by a group of men who groped them, pulled their clothing and took photos of them with their mobile phones.Nerver, attack a woman in a mini....we love our minis...
The protest was organised by the Women’s League of the African National Congress (ANC) who said that the objective of the march was to end, “patriarchal views still entrenched in parts of South Africa society”, and that women should be able to wear whatever they wish without fear of attack or victimization of any kind.
At the march, Women’s Minister Lulu Xingwana threatened to close down the taxi rank if such harassment continued.
