Where it all began...

Today, December 17th, is the anniversary of Tunisian street vendor Mohamed Bouazizi’s self-immolation in Sidi Bouzid.

his cousin Walid Bouazizi mourns at his grave in Garaat Benour cemetery
This is where all the uprisings began..all with one man who had enough...
see more below...

Mohamed Bouazizi  was a Tunisian street vendor who set himself on fire on 17 December 2010, in protest of the confiscation of his wares and the harassment and humiliation that he reported was inflicted on him by a municipal official and her aides. His act became a catalyst for the Tunisian Revolution and the wider Arab Spring, inciting demonstrations and riots throughout Tunisia in protest of social and political issues in the country. The public's anger and violence intensified following Bouazizi's death, leading then-President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to step down on 14 January 2011, after 23 years in power.
The success of the Tunisian protests inspired protests in several other Arab countries, plus several non-Arab countries. The protests included several men who emulated Bouazizi's act of self-immolation, in an attempt to bring an end to their own autocratic governments. Those men and Bouazizi were hailed by some Arab commentators as "heroic martyrs of a new Middle Eastern revolution. In 2011, Bouazizi was posthumously awarded the Sakharov Prize, jointly along with four others for their contributions to "historic changes in the Arab world"

The African Tom Ford...

Is Sheria Ngowi!
Thats according to GQ Italia..
See here
Because I speak a little Italian ... google translate..i was kind enough to translate it for ya...
Walter Thomas Ngowi is officially 29 years old and is a lawyer by profession. But in Africa, everyone knows him as Sheri Ngowi (which translated from Swahili means the law of the style), because his passion for fashion has turned into a real business impreditoriale, becoming the fashion designer of the year and label preferred by many African and Arab businessmen. In 2008 he launched his first capsule collection under the name of Sheri Na Mavazi in Mysore. But is 2009 the year of change: Year of the Gentleman, the very first men's collection inspired by and dedicated father, "responsible" for his passion for men's fashion. Success came early, drew the dress for Miss Tanzania and in 2011 he was elected best designer of the year. By 2012, will also open its first store in town.
We meet him in Der es Salaam, Tanzania, on his appointment seguitissimo blog, to ask what it means to fashion in Africa, it is easy, as in his case, being able to sell and be heard while released from the most exportable style "ethnic" such as designers appreciate and would like to reach that goal. When he speaks of his creations (for now mostly male, in 2012, but soon there will also be female), Sheri believes it does so with optimism. "I started my career as a fashion designer later, but I believe that my name will soon reach the interest of the West." Good luck Sher.

What's your freedom 2012 collection by Eskado bird

The WYF? collection is an exhilarating visual representation of my freedom. This season we are using light lustrous cotton, linen fabric, fine silk, raw silk fabric, colourful lace, floral prints incorporated with an invigorating colour palette of tangerine and mustards to paint my freedom in the collection. The collection which consists of both men’s and women’s ready to wear clothing is cheerful, energetic and warm”. [source]

After 50 years...

The Governent spent Billions on the recent Uhru Celebrations... 64 to be exact...(That is as speculated  by the citizen since we arent certain)
and well I done some thinking...
The government spent a total of Sh64 billion to facilitate celebrations to mark the 50th independence anniversary of Mainland Tanzania. Sources from the celebrations organising committee and Treasury confided separately to The Citizen that the money was spent on exhibitions by all ministries and some government agencies, plus the grand gala that marked the climax of the event at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam last Friday.
Some Sh8 billion was allocated to local governments. Our source reveals that regional administration and local government authorities organised celebrations in all of the Mainland’s 21 regions, and 136 district councils
Im not saying it was too much, Im not saying it was too little.. but dont we owe somebody somewherea couple of  billions? O_0  lol
