WHORE! Magazine

Whore! magazine, dedicated to celebrating the current and historical qualities of women who have defined a role for themselves outside the status quo. Through written word, art, design, fashion, and music, Whore! magazine creates a dialogue about what women are as opposed to what traditional society has dictated they should be. Whore! also explores issues largely untouched by mass media, while reclaiming a derogatory word that has long been used to censure those who would desire, express, resist, or simply take a different path. They too recognize those women, both modern and historical, who strive for experience rather than conventional “goodness,” and continue to fight an age-old battle against expectation.

Catchy name, at first I was like, what!!? Whore magazine? Now whores have their own magazine too?
I love poetry column, in the first issue it was poem called 'shut up bitches' by Cameron McHenry,it caught my eye but one things for sure, I wouldn't like to be covergirl of this magazine! Imagine my daddy shopping at the supermarket, turns to magazines corner and sees his little girl all posy  and on top on the magazine it reads in capital ' WHORE!' he would have heart attack!!

From the editor

"Whore! magazine neither condones nor judges. Instead we are dedicated to exploring those extraordinarily flawed, devilishly ambitious, and wickedly mercurial individuals who refuse to live what Thoreau so aptly described as “lives of quiet desperation.” Societal expectations haunt us all. There are those, or so some say, who have succeeded in the realms of love, family, and career, and have navigated these waters with the virtues of grace, humility, and always maintaining a pleasant manner remaining intact. The rest of us have been a bit messier. We pop pills, we fall for inappropriate partners, we stay up too late, we get fired, we have affairs, we lie, and we struggle with guilt, madness, depression, and apathy. We bitch, we piss off our families, we talk too loud, we go outside without makeup on—or we go out with too much on. We forget to be empowered and sometimes we care too deeply what others think of us. Along this bumpy road, we give and receive love, experience transcendence, feel joy, and sometimes we even change the world. With all of this, in other times today’s woman would almost invariably have been dismissed as a whore."
